Every act of eating is ultimately an agricultural act.

Agricultural Activist, Wendell Berry

At The Family Jones we are keenly aware of this connection and through the production and sale of our distilled spirits, we are wholeheartedly committed to re-invigorate those connections. We hold the relationship with the entire process sacred from the soil and those who cultivate it to those who receive the labor of our family’s work in gratitude.

Premium Spirits

Annika Jones

Vodka

750ml / 350ml

Harnessing the complexities of single-estate, Colorado grains, Annika Jones breaks from tradition to bring a unique, full bodied, round, flavorful expression of vodka to the world. With delicate floral and fruit notes and a crisp, clean finish. Annika Jones is beautiful on its own and is ideal for your favorite spirit-forward, vodka-based cocktail.

Tasting notes: Melon, pear, crisp mineralty.

Technical

The single-estate, Colorado-grown grain bill of 60% hard winter wheat and 40% corn is fermented on site, then distilled utilizing both pot and column distillation to maximize flavor. Annika Jones is then filtered through carbon and cut with Colorado spring water to 80 proof (40% ABV).

French Martini

This fresh & fruity martini receives added complexity with the full-bodied, nuanced flavor of our Annika Jones Vodka.

  • 2 oz Annika Jones

  • 1 3/4 oz pineapple juice

  • 0.75 oz Chambord

Shake all ingredients in a tin together, strain into a coupe glass.

Juniper Jones

Gin

750ml / 350ml

Juniper Jones' unique blend of seven botanicals produces the perfect New World western-style gin while maintaining a refined Juniper backbone. Bottled at a slightly higher than usual 97 proof (48.5% ABV). Juniper Jones will stand up to the components of your favorite cocktail and also play beautifully with a quality tonic.

Tasting Notes: Citrus oil, dill, fresh cut cucumber, cacao.

Technical

Using a 100% winter wheat base, Juniper Jones is born through two separate distillations - one with its namesake juniper, and the second with a blend of coriander, orris root, lemongrass, dill, cucumber, and cacao nib. The two distillations are then blended and cut with Colorado spring water to a bold 97 proof (48.5% ABV).

Funky, bright, earthy, and totally unconventional. Mo Jones is a white rum like no other and the perfect foundation for your next daiquiri.

Tasting notes: Dried coconut, tropical fruits, buttery toffee.

Stopgap Jones

Bourbon

750ml

While our homemade whiskey continues to age in our rackhouse, we are proud to offer our Stopgap Jones Bourbon distilled by our friends at Ohio's Middle West Spirits. Having spent its first 3 years in new, charred 30-gallon barrels; Stopgap Jones is moved to larger, 53-gallon ex-rye barrels for finishing - softening the character of the oak and importing subtle spice notes.

Tasting notes: Dark fruits, toasted marshmallow, vanilla, tobacco leaf, lively spice.

Technical

A four-grain mash bill consisting of 66% corn, 17% wheat, 14% rye, and 3% malt, Stopgap Jones is double-pot distilled and laid to rest for 3 years in 30-gallon new American Oak barrels. It is then transferred into 53-gallon ex-rye barrels for at least 6 months, prior to being non-chill filtered and bottles at 90 proof (45% ABV).

Mint Julep

As many as 120,000 mint Juleps will be savored at Churchill Downs during Kentucky Derby Weekend.

  • 2 oz StopGap Bourbon

  • 10 min leaves

  • .75 oz demerara syrup

  • Mint sprig

  • Crushed ice

In a metal julep cup, muddle mint and demerara syrup, add bourbon and pack with crushed ice, stir until the julep cup is frosted, top with a mound of crushed ice, garnish with mint sprig.

Whiskey Sisters

The Whiskey Sisters are a Colorado-based grains brokerage firm supplying the highest quality product to Colorado distillers and malters. The Sister’s grains are 99.99 percent clean, whereas some mass-market grains can have stuff from the field in there—dirt, corncobs, we've even heard of nails—which will affect the flavor of the booze. The sisters, Stephanie & Felicia Ohnmacht grew up on the eastern plains of Colorado on a farm that was homesteaded in 1907 and is still in operation today. It has been in their family for over a century - 112 years! Today, the sisters combine their love of their home with their love of a good spirit to keep their hometown community thriving. The Family Jones uses the sisters corn, rye and wheat in our Annika Jones Vodka, Juniper Jones Gin, Atticus Jones Rye, Ella Jones Bourbon and other specialty products.

Root Shoot Malting

Pride and family values are an essential part of the process at Root Shoot Malting. As 5th generation farmers, the Olander family respects the heritage of their region's agriculture. Root Shoot Malting takes what they learned from the farmers before them... making the least impact on the Earth to keep the land healthy for the next generation of Root Shoot farmers. Root Shoot Malting is in Loveland, CO; just around the corner from our distillery! With their corn, rye, wheat and malt we are able to craft our Annika Jones Vodka, Juniper Jones Gin, Atticus Jones Rye, Ella Jones Bourbon and other specialty products.

Colorado Stock and Grain

Farming in the small town of Johnstown, Colorado our friends from Colorado Stock and Grain happily supply us with corn and rye for our Atticus Jones Rye, Ella Jones Bourbon, and other specialty products. Like our other farmers they provide us with the grains so we are able to provide you with grain to bottle spirits.

 Collaborations

truebrewing-20180403-lirette001.jpg

Trve Brewing

We channeled our inner Loki collaborating with Trve Brewing to make our Genever style gin and Trve Brewing's Sour Beer. We fermented Trve Brewing's mash malt with our botanicals to make a Genever style gin. The same mash malt was used by Trve brewing, distilling it with our botanicals to make their Sour beer.

Museum of Contemporary Art

We were lucky to get the Honey from Kristen Hatgi Sink's art exhibit "Honey" in the Denver Museum of Contemporary Art. The exhibit showcased the eponymous sticky substance—dripping and pouring over composed objects and human subjects. In them, flowers, fruit, and a young woman remain nearly motionless as honey runs over their respective delicate forms. The substance represents wealth, nutrition, sexuality and love, health and healing, and sacred love. With the honey we are crafting a custom honey-based spirit.
